With bright colors everywhere you look, Captiva will captivate your sense of excitement in one packed Island!
Captiva Island is a perfect getaway that is leading from Sanibel with just one bridge over the ocean. It is a darling place to find relaxation and instantly feel the wonders of what retirement must be like with the easy-going mentality of the locals.
For seven days on the Island, we stayed at the South Seas Island Resort that has the best of both worlds with an amazing pool area for all ages that overlooks the stunning aqua blue ocean and five different restaurants to enjoy.
This Resort also includes a variety of stay options from either being a single room, suites, the villas or even homes that each overlook a unique scenery for your liking.

For transportation, we had opted for the most fun ride besides a Jeep… a golf cart!
I would recommend this to anyone who is wanting to stay only in Captiva Island as there is so much to see, do and eat in one compact place.
If you are wanting to do the same when visiting, Sunny Island Adventures is a great place to pick up your golf cart and adventure through town!
On Captiva Island, there are lots of fun restaurants to try out for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and I am convinced that this Island offers the largest portion sizes than any other restaurants! They definitely know how to fill you up fast to then enjoy your food coma on the beach. ;)
This trip was my first time ever catching a fish and it definitely was an experience being in the middle of the ocean doing so. It was also an experience of a lifetime being able to watch my cousin catch a Lemon shark that was about 5’ long!
If fishing is something that you’d like to do on the Gulf of Mexico as well, you should check out the My Captiva Fishing Guide to catch all kinds of unique fish.
I had caught a Pompano which allowed for a nice dinner at the Lazy Flamingo where they offer to fry or mesquite-grill your fish for you to enjoy like the locals!
Other Restaurants that are an absolute must to visit, besides the restaurants that are linked the to South Seas Resort, are the Bubble Room and the Green Flash.
The Bubble Room is the most unique restaurant that I have ever been to and does not disappoint with their yummy Orange Crush Cake!
Located right on the water is The Green Flash which offers fine dining and a beautiful, serene view.
All in all, Captiva Island is a great place to vacation for a relaxing time and a sweet getaway!
